It is aimed at all healthcare professionals including: Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare Students, Physios, Biokineticists, Paramedics, Physical and Occupational Therapists and other allied healthcare workers. It is designed to teach basic individual and team resuscitation skills for both in and out-of-hospital settings. The course covers the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initial assessment, personal safety and activating emergency response<\/li>\n<li>CPR for adults, children and infants<\/li>\n<li>Use of barrier devices for giving rescue breaths<\/li>\n<li>Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)<\/li>\n<li>Management of choking and recovery position<\/li>\n<li>Team resuscitation skills including using a BVM for ventilations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Testing and Certification: <\/strong>The course is certified by the American Heart Association and is valid for two years. Participants will be provided with a student manual to study prior to the course. Successful completion of the course requires students to pass a written test and demonstrate proficiency in CPR and AED use on both adults and infants. The course is accepted as a prerequisite for advanced courses such as ACLS, PALS and ANLS. Participants will also receive 15 CPD for attendance. Discovery Vitality members will receive 1000 Vitality points for attendance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duration:\u00a0<\/strong>7 Hours<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Bookings: <\/strong>Courses can be booked to suit individual needs, either weekdays or over weekends.
