First Aid Essentials for Children

Course Description: This practical training course is intended for to those who may need to provide CPR and First Aid directly to children and babies. The course is ideal for parents, caregivers, domestic workers and au-pairs. Training will cover the following topics:

• Accident prevention, emergency assessment and calling for help
• CPR and treatment of choking
• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Trauma emergencies such as head injuries, nose bleeds, eye and tooth injuries, broken bones, sprains and burns
• Medical emergencies: Asthma, allergic reactions, seizures and febrile convulsions, bites, stings and poisoning

Testing and Certification: This is a participation only course with no assessment at the end. No prior CPR knowledge is required. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance as well as a 20 page student workbook to take home. Discovery Vitality members can claim 1000 Vitality points for attendance.

Duration: 7 Hours

 Bookings: Courses can be booked to suit individual needs, either weekdays or over weekends. The course is run at CPR4Life training venue in Lonehill, Fourways.  Alternatively, for group bookings we are happy to run the course from a venue of your choice.
