First Aid Fundamentals for Bikers:
Course description: Bikers often find themselves first on the scene of an accident, in remote places, with limited medical equipment and a long wait until help arrives. First Aid Fundamentals for Bikers is a one day course designed to specifically address the needs of bikers who find themselves in emergency medical situations.
This course is aimed at all bikers who wish to learn basic medical skills to manage the common and life threatening conditions which they may encounter on and off the road. The course will cover the following topics;
The course covers the following topics:
- CPR, rescue breathing and choking
- Medical emergencies including heart attack, stroke, diabetes, asthma and epilepsy
- Hyper and hypothermia, dehydration and heat stroke
- Management of Stings and Bites including bees, spiders, snakes and scorpions
- Wound management, bleeding control and burns treatment
- Treatment of common bone fractures and dislocations
- Head and Spinal injuries, Abdominal, Chest and Pelvic Injuries and helmet removal
Testing and Certification: No previous medical knowledge is required. The course will be a combination of theory and practical teaching using first aid equipment suitable for a rider to carry in a small kit on the bike. The course is participation only, attendants will receive a participation certificate along with a first aid kit and comprehensive student manual.
Duration: 10 Hours
Bookings: Courses can be booked to suit individual needs, either weekdays or over weekends. The course is run at CPR4Life training venue in Lonehill, Fourways.
